These paintings were made for Jonathan and Helen Reynolds of Flaming Fun, a company that perform fantastic fire breathing, poi-light juggling, stilt walking, and living tables entertainment. The performances provide so much love and laughter.

When I visited China I was struck by the gorgeous brightly coloured silks in the tailor shops where you can have a dress made to fit in a matter of days. The form for these paintings comes from the terraced mountains in some parts of China.

From my kitchen window I can see an old drover’s road. It winds down the hill and is surrounded by fields of sheep, trees, and in the summer large bales of hay. Designing symbols for these things I have created my own ‘map’ of the area.

I saw a girl heavy with child – just when everything was beginning to bloom in the garden.
